**IMPORTANT NOTICE**:
By accessing, downloading, or using the Fairseed Bitcoin Backup
Template Library (the "Templates"), you ("User") acknowledge that
you have **read, understood, and unconditionally accepted** these
Terms of Use & License Agreement (the "Agreement"). If you do
not agree, **do not use the Templates**.
### **1. Definitions**
- **"Fairseed"**: Refers to the project, its maintainers,
contributors, and affiliates.
- **"Templates"**: The Bitcoin metal backup template library,
including all files, images, and assets **offered free of charge**
by Fairseed.
- **"User"**: You, as an individual or entity accessing or using
the Templates.
- **"DIY (Do-It-Yourself)"**: A methodology where **the User is
solely responsible** for:
- Assembling, punching, and implementing the Templates.
- Following (or choosing not to follow) the instructions **offered
as guidance**.
- Ensuring the Templates meet their specific Bitcoin backup needs.
**By using the Templates, you expressly acknowledge that
Fairseed's role is limited to **offering** open-source designs
**for free**, **NOT** customized guidance, support, or
warranties**.
### **2. Acceptance & Indemnification**
2.1. **By accessing or using Fairseed's website or Templates**:
- You confirm you are **18+ years old** (or of legal majority in
your jurisdiction).
- You **unconditionally accept** these Terms, Disclaimer, and
License Agreement.
2.2. **Indemnification**:
You agree to **indemnify, defend, and hold harmless** Fairseed,
its contributors, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or
expenses arising out of:
- Your misuse of the Templates.
- Breach of this Agreement.
- Violations of third-party rights.
### **3. Disclaimer & User Responsibility**
3.1. **AS IS Provision**:
Fairseed **offers** the Templates **"AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF
ANY KIND**. Fairseed disclaims all warranties, express or implied,
including (but not limited to):
- **Merchantability**: No promise the Templates are fit for
general use.
- **Fitness for a Particular Purpose**: No guarantee they'll work
for your specific Bitcoin backup needs.
- **Non-infringement**: While we believe the Templates are
original, we can't warrant against third-party IP claims.
3.2. **Acknowledgment of DIY Nature**:
**You understand and agree that**:
- Fairseed **offers** the Templates **as a courtesy**, **free of
charge**, and **without obligation**.
- The Templates are a **DIY-based project**, meaning **no
professional assembly, testing, or validation** is included.
- **You are the sole craftsman**: Responsible for punching,
cutting, and ensuring the Templates function as intended.
- **No expert guidance is offered**: Fairseed does not **provide**
personalized support, troubleshooting, or success guarantees.
- **Results vary**: Depending on your skill, tools, and diligence,
the Templates may succeed or fail in creating viable Bitcoin
backups.
3.3. **Risk Acknowledgment**:
**You expressly accept all risks** associated with:
- **Human error** (e.g., misaligned punches, incorrect assembly).
- **Material failure** (e.g., metal cracks, corrosion).
- **Incompatibility** with your Bitcoin software/hardware wallets.
- **Financial loss** due to failed backups or recovery attempts.
**Fairseed is not responsible for any loss, damage, or liability
arising from your use (or misuse) of the Templates**.
3.4. **No Guarantees**:
By **offering** the Templates **freely**, Fairseed does **not
promise**:
- Error-free or secure operation.
- Compatibility with all Bitcoin software/hardware wallets.
- Protection against loss, theft, or damage to your Bitcoin
holdings.
### **4. Limitation of Liability**
4.1. **Maximum Extent Permitted by Law**:
Fairseed, its contributors, and affiliates **shall not be liable
for**:
- **Direct Damages**: Loss of Bitcoin, financial losses, or repair
costs.
- **Indirect Damages**: Consequential, punitive, incidental, or
special damages (e.g., lost profits, downtime).
- **Third-Party Claims**: User actions causing harm to others.
This limitation applies **even if Fairseed was advised of
potential risks**. Since the Templates are **offered without
charge**, Fairseed's liability is **capped at zero**.
4.2. **Aggregate Liability Cap**:
In no event shall Fairseed's total liability (regardless of legal
theory) **exceed $0** (zero dollars), reflecting the **free,
gratuitous nature** of the Templates.
### **5. License Terms**
Fairseed **offers** the Templates under a **dual permissive
license structure** + special asset license:
5.1. **Code & Templates**: Licensed under **either**:
- **[Apache License 2.0](LICENSE-APACHE)** (*your choice*), or
- **[MIT License](LICENSE-MIT)** (*your choice*).
**Choose one license** and abide by its terms for all
code/template usage.
5.2. **Assets (`assets/` Directory)**:
Images, graphics, and media files are additionally available under
the **[Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License
(CC-BY 4.0)](LICENSE-CC-BY)**.
- **Condition**: Provide attribution (e.g., "Fairseed Project") in
your derivative works.
5.3. **Restriction**:
**You may not** use, modify, distribute, or sublicense the
Templates **except as explicitly permitted** by:
- Apache 2.0,
- MIT, or
- CC-BY 4.0 (for assets).
Violations terminate your rights and may constitute copyright
infringement.
### **6. Intellectual Property & Authorship**
6.1. **Copyright**:
Contributors retain copyright in their contributions. See

authorship details.
6.2. **Patent Grant (Apache 2.0)**:
If using the Apache 2.0 License, contributors grant you a
**non-exclusive patent license** to implement the Templates
without fear of patent claims.
6.3. **No Endorsement**:
Derivative works or forks **must not imply Fairseed's
endorsement** without written permission.
### **7. Disclaimer Regarding Curated Stainless Steel Items (304
& 316L)**
7.1. **No Stress Testing Conducted by Fairseed**:
Fairseed **has not personally conducted stress tests, durability
assessments, or material certifications** for the curated 304 and
316L stainless steel items displayed on the site/project. These
items are **listed based on**:
- **Proven industry standards** (e.g., corrosion resistance,
hardness).
- **Community feedback** and anecdotal success stories.
- **Theoretical suitability** for metal Bitcoin backups.
7.2. **Community-Driven Validation Invitation**:
Fairseed **actively encourages Users to**:
- Conduct their own tests and share results.
- Report failures, successes, or observations regarding these
materials.
- Contribute data to **[GitHub Issues](link)**.
**By doing so, you help build a **collective knowledge base** for
the Bitcoin hardware community**.
7.3. **No Endorsement of Specific Vendors or Products**:
Fairseed **does not endorse, warrant, or guarantee** the quality,
reliability, or performance of any specific 304/316L stainless
steel products (e.g., sheets, plates, blanks) **sold by
third-party vendors**. Users are **solely responsible for**:
- Verifying vendor claims.
- Testing materials before use in Bitcoin backups.
- Ensuring compliance with local safety and material standards.
**Fairseed's role is limited to curating a **starting point list**
based on available research. We rely on the community to
**empirically validate** the real-world applicability of these
materials for Bitcoin metal backups**.
### **8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction**
8.1. **Governing Law**:
This Agreement is governed by the laws of France, without regard
to conflicts of law principles.
8.2. **Jurisdiction**:
Any disputes shall be resolved **exclusively in the courts of
Paris**. You consent to personal jurisdiction there.
8.3. **Severability**:
If any provision is deemed invalid, **the remaining terms remain
in full force**. The invalid part shall be adjusted minimally to
comply with law.
### **9. Entire Agreement**
9.1. **This Document is the Entire Understanding**:
This Terms of Use & License Agreement (including all
referenced licenses) constitutes the **complete and final
agreement** between you and Fairseed regarding the Templates. It
**supersedes all prior discussions, understandings, or
agreements** (whether written or oral).
9.2. **No Oral Modifications**:
**No verbal statements** by Fairseed representatives,
contributors, or community members can alter, amend, or waive any
term in this Agreement. **Changes must be written** and published
here.
9.3. **Precedence of License Terms**:
In the event of a conflict between this Agreement and the
applicable license (Apache 2.0, MIT, or CC-BY 4.0), **the license
terms shall prevail** for matters of use, modification, and
distribution.
### **10. Changes to This Agreement**
Fairseed reserves the right to update these Terms at any time.
**Changes are effective immediately** upon posting. Your continued
use constitutes acceptance. Check this page periodically for
updates.
